Teaching
I did my undergrad at Macalester College, a teaching focused institution. The time and energy my professors put into their classes and to mentoring students were key components in my development as a statistician and in giving me the confidence to explore different areas of the field. Eventually, I hope to take on a similar role. In the meantime, I am excited to gain teaching experience and conduct teaching-related research throughout my PhD.
This past summer, I attended my first conference, the United States Conference on Teaching Statistics. This was a fantastic experience; in addition to learning so much (see my blog post), I presented two projects with my cohortmate Sara Colando.
Our first project aims to understand how the trajectory of undergraduate statistics student writing has changed since the introduction of ChatGPT. [Writeup here].
Our second project focused on teaching data wrangling with the data.table R package.
